Corrugated board is not a single material — each of its layers is made from a separate paper grade and has its own job.
Kraft paper
A paper with a strong fibre structure, used in packaging materials that need high strength and in the outer layers of board.
Fluting
The paper that forms the wavy middle layer of corrugated board. This is the layer that gives the board its stiffness and impact resistance.
Testliner
The flat outer and inner layers of the board. They define the box’s surface, printability and strength.
ARKA MMC makes all three papers on its own 2800 mm wide machine across 100–450 g/m². Liners and fluted layers come from the same plant and are matched to each other — the quality of the board starts with the paper itself.
